President Obama Makes Fiscal Year 2009 Supplemental Budget Request

Washington, DC — President Barack Obama today sent to Congress a Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 supplemental budget request for expanded assistance to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).  This expanded authorization would ensure important resources for the IMF to address financial dangers in markets around the world, especially those in developing countries that are most at risk of failure. 

Attached, you will find the letter from the President to Congressional Leaders formally making the request, a memo from OMB Director Peter Orszag to the President detailing the proposal, and the text of the proposal.
