Rating

What This Rating Means

PERFORMING
Moderately Effective

In general, a program rated Moderately Effective has set ambitious goals and is well-managed. Moderately Effective programs likely need to improve their efficiency or address other problems in the programs' design or management in order to achieve better results.
  • Some of the program's former performance measures such as cents/KWH are no longer tracked. It is unclear how some of the new efficiency measures tracked by the Tennessee Valley Authority relate to program performance.
  • The Tennessee Valley Authority committed to a debt reduction plan that will reduce its total debt $3 billion - $5 billion over a ten to twelve year period. TVA has since increased that debt reduction total to $7.8 billion by 2016.
  • TVA developed a new long-term strategic plan that analyzes TVA's operations, capital, customers, and envinromental needs. The new strategic plan was relesed in May 2007.

Improvement Plan

About Improvement Plans

We are taking the following actions to improve the performance of the program:

  • TVA will produce additional detailed business plans to implement the goals of its strategic plan. The business plans will be developed during the remainder of FY07 and beginning of FY08.
  • Maintaining the current debt reduction plan and working with the Administration to ensure success.
