  • The program and its partner law enforcement agencies combine their expertise and assets, within their defined jurisdictions, to apply a comprehensive strategy to fight violent crime.
  • The program needs to establish ambitious annual measures for its performance goals and ensure that relevant, independent evaluations are conducted to demonstrate the overall effectiveness of the program.

Improvement Plan

About Improvement Plans

We are taking the following actions to improve the performance of the program:

  • Working to ensure that appropriate penalties and sanctions are available and assessed for Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) found to be in violation of Federal firearms laws.
  • Developing ambitious targets for annual performance measures associated with the firearms program.
  • Developing an evaluation strategy that will subject the program to external, rigorous and thorough, regularly scheduled independent evaluations at the national program level.
