Rating

What This Rating Means

PERFORMING
Effective

This is the highest rating a program can achieve. Programs rated Effective set ambitious goals, achieve results, are well-managed and improve efficiency.
  • The program's purpose is clear. For example, there is no other US government program designed to send peacekeepers around the globe to assist in maintaining peace and security.
  • The program is achieving its ambitious goals. Using the most recent data available, this program has met or exceeded its US government targets, both efficiency and outcome. For example, the ratio of total mission costs divided by number of staff has decreased from $43,400 to $42,400.
  • The program's budget requests are linked to the State Department's goals. For example, a peacekeeping mission in Sudan advances the US goal of a stable, democratic regime in that country.

Improvement Plan

About Improvement Plans

We are taking the following actions to improve the performance of the program:

  • Working with the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations and member states to ensure that peacekeeping missions focus on more efficient ways of achieving its goals.
