Rating

What This Rating Means

PERFORMING
Adequate

This rating describes a program that needs to set more ambitious goals, achieve better results, improve accountability or strengthen its management practices.
  • While the agency developed a measure on the percentage of investigations with enforcement consequences, the Office of Investigations has not set targets and has not collected any actual performancedata.
  • The agency has not established a system to hold managers accountable for performance data. Some management training has been conducted, but little progress has been made.
  • The agency has made some progress in cooperating with other Federal law enforcement agencies. It will continue to be a challenge through the Department's initiative, the Secure Border Iniative, which will require Investigations to cooperate closely with another division within the agency, Detention and Removal, as well as Customs and Border Protection.
