Rating

What This Rating Means

PERFORMING
Effective

This is the highest rating a program can achieve. Programs rated Effective set ambitious goals, achieve results, are well-managed and improve efficiency.
  • The program has a clear and unique purpose. The program ensures the safe operation of reactor plants in operating nuclear-powered submarines and aircraft carriers (constituting 40 percent of the Navy's combatants), and fulfills the Navy's requirements for new nuclear propulsion plants.
  • The program has demonstrated good progress in achieving its long-term and annual goals, such as the safe operation of 102 reactors, completing next-generation reactor design, and meeting environmental performance.
  • The program design is effectively targeted so that resources directly address the program's mission.

Improvement Plan

About Improvement Plans

We are taking the following actions to improve the performance of the program:

  • Reducing the Annual Naval Reactors complex-wide aggregate Facility Condition Index to 4%, as measured by deferred maintenance per replacement plant value for all program facilities and infrastructure.
