Transportation Security Administration: Transportation Security Support

The purpose is to support the protection of the nation's transportation system by assessing and distributing intelligence information; providing comprehensive technical infrastructure support; and providing support to accomplish the overall Transportation Security Administration (TSA) mission.

Rating

What This Rating Means

NOT PERFORMING
Results Not Demonstrated

A rating of Results Not Demonstrated (RND) indicates that a program has not been able to develop acceptable performance goals or collect data to determine whether it is performing.
  • While adequate performance measures are in place, baselines and targets are under development. Data shortages prevent the adequate comparison to similar government and non-government programs.
  • Lack of information technology (IT) policies and management controls restrict program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • TSA has not yet implemented a performance management system that defines individuals' responsibilities and how they are aligned with performance measures and results.

Improvement Plan

About Improvement Plans

We are taking the following actions to improve the performance of the program:

  • Establishing baselines and targets for the long-term, annual and efficiency measures in the FY 2008. TSA will begin demonstrating results against these performance measures in FY 2007.
  • Improving budgetary program planning by establishing schedules and categories for obligations. TSA will track this data on a quarterly basis.
  • Encouraging, to the greatest extent possible, comprehensive independent evaluations of the effectiveness of the security support systems.
