Rating
What This Rating Means |
PERFORMING Effective
This is the highest rating a program can achieve. Programs rated Effective set ambitious goals, achieve results, are well-managed and improve efficiency.
- The program is able to demonstrate its impact on the health of people living in communities exposed to toxic substances. Specifically, it documents the impact of its interventions at sites with known exposures by tracking progress on selected health outcomes.
- ATSDR continues to improve efficiencies, moving from operational to programmatic efficiency. Its new efficiency measure reflects improved timeliness in disseminating public health findings and reducing costs in the process. Past efforts include consolidating ATSDR and the National Center for Environmental Health's Offices of the Director and Board of Scientific Counselors, saving $4.6 million.
- Independent evaluations are ingrained in ATSDR's culture, with its Board of Scientific Counselors (BSC) conducting program reviews for the past three years. Progress on fulfilling recommendations is actively monitored. Two program reviews and one cross-functional review were completed, with favorable results.
