Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention

The Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention program makes grants available for projects that seek to prevent child abuse and neglect. These grants are designed to strengthen parenting skills and increase family stability in order to make child abuse less likely.

Rating

What This Rating Means

NOT PERFORMING
Results Not Demonstrated

A rating of Results Not Demonstrated (RND) indicates that a program has not been able to develop acceptable performance goals or collect data to determine whether it is performing.
  • The program was found not to have an efficiency measure in place. It now has an efficiency measure which captures the proportion of funding that supports evidence-based practices.
  • It was found to have no independent studies evaluating program effectiveness, nor are any such studies in development. Though all State Lead Agencies are required to complete a State-wide evaluation, it is not clear that these evaluations are independent, and there are no national evaluations of the program.
  • Program oversight is managed effectively. Grantees submit annual performance data that includes both qualitative and quantitative information. The program uses this information to monitor grantees' progress toward meeting goals for the grant and addressing unmet needs in communities, identify technical assistance needs and recommend technical assistance resources.

Improvement Plan

About Improvement Plans

We are taking the following actions to improve the performance of the program:

  • Using data collected on newly developed performance measure to monitor and improve performance.
  • Setting baseline and targets for newly developed efficiency measure.
  • Working with grantees and other agency partners to support and improve child welfare program evaluation.
