Senior and Woman, Infants, and Children Farmers' Market Programs

The purpose of these programs is to provide fresh, nutritious, unprepared, locally-grown fruits and vegetables to low-income seniors, women, infants and children. Both programs are also intended to expand awareness and use of farmers' markets, roadside stands, and community-supported agriculture programs.

Rating

What This Rating Means

NOT PERFORMING
Results Not Demonstrated

A rating of Results Not Demonstrated (RND) indicates that a program has not been able to develop acceptable performance goals or collect data to determine whether it is performing.
  • The programs have no standardized means to demonstrate program results. The programs do not have annual performance measures that can demonstrate progress towards achieving the programs' long term goals. Program evaluations are limited and provide no firm conclusions about the impact on participants' consumption of fresh produce.
  • The programs are unlikely to improve the diets of program participants due to the low value of program benefits. The farmers' market program for women, infants and children provides vouchers worth only $19 on average per person per year. The program for seniors provides vouchers worth only $35 on average per person per year.
