Duration: Rotational opportunities available beginning October 2016 and lasting 4-6 months (flexible start date).

The Health Division oversees Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace coverage and tax credits under the Affordable Care Act, private health market reforms, and a wide variety of public health agencies and issues – such as biomedical research, biodefense and emergency preparedness, health services, and food and medical product safety – which are primarily under the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Health Division may use this posting to fill opportunities in multiple branches within the division. The specific roles, responsibilities and accomplishments for this assignment would be determined by the needs of the division and the candidate’s interest areas.

Responsibilities vary by branch and may include:

  • Overseeing implementation of the Affordable Care Act, including review of regulations and State guidance documents;
  • Writing memoranda and conducting briefings for OMB senior leadership, White House staff, etc. on policy and budget issues;
  • Making recommendations to inform development of the President’s Budget;
  • Analyzing legislative proposals and testimony.

Applicants must be self-starters who are flexible, excel in a fast-paced environment, and work well under tight deadlines. The ideal applicant would have experience with budget analysis and/or program management of Federal mandatory programs, an interest in health policy, and excellent analytical and writing skills.
