Obama Administration Officials to Testify Before the U.S. Senate HSGAC, Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, Government Information, Federal Services, and International Security
WASHINGTON. DC – Obama Administration officials will testify tomorrow before the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, Government Information, Federal Services, and International Security. Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, other Administration officials, and a representative from the US Postal Service will testify at the hearing on “Cutting the Federal Government’s Energy Bill: An Examination of the Sustainable Federal Government Executive Order.”
Demonstrating a commitment to lead by example, President Obama signed Executive Order 13514 that sets sustainability goals for Federal agencies and focuses on making improvements in their environmental, energy and economic performance. The Executive Order requires Federal agencies to set a 2020 greenhouse gas emissions reduction target, increase energy efficiency, reduce fleet petroleum consumption, conserve water, reduce waste, support sustainable communities, and leverage Federal purchasing power to promote environmentally-responsible products and technologies.
