Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, Announces the Deputy Director of the Office of Environmental Quality

WASHINGTON, DC – White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) Chair Nancy Sutley today announced Gary S. Guzy as Deputy Director of the Office of Environmental Quality following his confirmation by the U.S. Senate on Thursday, September 10, 2009.

"Gary Guzy brings 25 years of environmental leadership and he will be an asset to our team as we work to fulfill and implement the President’s environmental agenda," said Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality. "His knowledge and background on environmental issues will serve CEQ and this Administration very well."

Prior to his appointment at CEQ, Mr. Guzy served as the General Counsel at APX, Inc., the leading global provider of registry tracking systems for carbon and renewable energy credits. Mr. Guzy served as the General Counsel and Counselor to the Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency during the Clinton administration, as well as a Senior Attorney at the Justice Department’s Environment Division. He has also served as the Global Practice Leader for Climate Risk and Sustainability at Marsh, Inc., the world’s leading insurance broker and strategic risk advisor.
