Intergovernmental Affairs & Health Care Reform
In March 2010, Congress passed and the President signed into law the Affordable Care Act, which puts in place comprehensive health insurance reforms that will hold insurance companies more accountable, lower health care costs, guarantee more health care choices, and enhance the quality of health care for all Americans.
Many provisions of the Affordable Care Act are already being implemented, and other changes will be implemented through 2014 and beyond. The law is already strengthening our health care system in states around the country. State, local, and tribal governments share responsibility for implementation of this law and the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs is committed to working with elected officials throughout this implementation process.

Impact of Repeal
Repealing the Affordable Care Act would take away the new freedom and control it gives the American people over their health care, raise costs for individuals and businesses, and hurt our economy.
