Student reporters and young people from schools across the country joined First Lady Michelle Obama in the State Dining Room of the White House for a Let’s Move! Town Hall hosted by C-SPAN’s Susan Swain. Let’s Move! is an initiative started by the First Lady to help raise a healthier generation of kids and solve the epidemic of childhood obesity within a generation.
Today's event was inspired by C-SPAN’s annual documentary contest “Student Cam.” A thousand young filmmakers entered and health was the number one issue. A special guest at today’s event was Matthew Shimura, the first prize winner in the middle school category for a documentary on childhood obesity (watch the winning documentary here). Matthew attends the Punahou School in Honolulu, HI -- that's the same school President Obama attended during his childhood years in Hawaii.
