Self-employed for 32 years in Portland, Oregon, Katherine R. and her family had to pay for health care completely out of pocket and could never rely on unemployment during hard times -- "a luxury most folks take for granted."
But the Affordable Care Act came just in time for her and her family.
"Here are some fun facts: For several years we were paying over $20,000 for our private health care. The last year it jumped to $30,000," she said. Now, she and her family can afford to keep their family, their business, and their home.
"Each one of those folks that make the jump from being employed to self-employed after Obamacare have him to thank for not being unreasonably gouged for private health care," she said.
