Tune In: A White House Conversation on the Future of Aviation

Summary:
From drones to personal aircraft, we're at the forefront of a wave of innovation in our skies. Join us for a LIVE conversation on America's new aviation economy.

Under President Obama’s leadership, America continues to be the world’s most innovative country—a country that is developing the industries of the future and harnessing science and technology to help address important challenges.

Today, we are at the forefront of a new wave of innovation in aviation.

Over the last decade, commercial drones have emerged as an incredible tool for businesses and Americans across the country—and other startups are pursuing ideas that once seemed futuristic, like personal aircraft, but are now within reach. But this new wave of innovation presents a challenge for government. How can we unleash the potential benefits for America of new technologies in our skies while ensuring that public safety is protected? What's the right balance to strike between regulation and unfettered operation? These are major public policy questions, and ones that speak to larger issues that entrepreneurs and government officials are confronting as we reach new frontiers in science, technology, and innovation.

On Tuesday, October 11th, White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough will host a conversation with Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx, Helen Greiner, the inventor of the Roomba as well as the CTO and founder of drone company CyPhy Works, and Eric Allison, CEO of Zee Aero, which is working on a new generation of personal aircraft. They'll discuss and debate how we can help build one of America's next big industries, and provide a nuanced look inside what it's like to be working on technologies and policy that are helping to shape the future of our skies.
