Throughout this Administration, we’ve introduced new and innovative ways to make it easier for Americans to engage with their government. There’s the FEMA app that lets users better access safety tips, weather alerts, and reminders of important actions to take to prepare before a disaster. For the first time ever, citizens can send a note to President Obama simply by messaging the White House on Facebook. And just recently, we launched the 1600 app to offer a new way for Americans to experience 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Today, we’re excited to announce the launch of the first-ever mobile application for RegInfo – RegInfo Mobile.
RegInfo.gov, a website that provides information about the status of agency regulatory actions and other related items, has been around for more than a decade now. With today’s launch, we’re bringing this information to the palm of your hand.
RegInfo Mobile, available on both iPhone and Android applications, allows users to more easily find information about the status of federal regulations and information collection requests. Users can view current and historical information about rulemakings; view detailed information about OIRA’s pending and concluded reviews of significant rulemakings; browse the log of past and upcoming public meetings about regulations under OIRA review; and view detailed information about pending information requests that are with OIRA. A new feature will also allow users to view an interactive visual timeline of the development of a particular rule throughout the review process.
Today’s release is yet another step we’re taking to build a modern, smarter, and more efficient government, and one to make government more transparent.
Here is what the new app offers:
Since the start of the Administration, the President has been committed to a 21st century regulatory system – one that maintains a balance between protecting the health, welfare, and safety of Americans and promoting economic growth, job creation, competitiveness, and innovation. We hope this will be another way for the American people to learn about the Federal regulatory system, and more easily find information about agency rulemaking.
We encourage you to give it a try and let us know what you think. This is just the first version of RegInfo Mobile – we’ll continue to make updates to the app based on customer feedback and use.
If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can download the app here. Or if you have an Android phone or Android tablet, you can get it here.
