Becky Koch is the Agriculture Communication Director at North Dakota State University. Ag Communication worked with Myriad Devices, a mobile development company, to create two NDSU Extension Service disaster phone apps. The Winter Survival Kit helps people in distress find their current location, call 911, notify friends and family, calculate how long the engine can run on the amount of fuel in the tank, and know how to stay safe from carbon monoxide poisoning. The Disaster Recovery Log incorporates educational information with the phone’s camera and audio features to help people record home inventories and download the information to recover from damage caused by disasters.
