Frank McGhee

Frank McGhee is the program director at Detroit-based Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO), leads the nonprofit’s Youth Initiatives Project, an ongoing program that provides leadership and advocacy training related to the prevention of violence and substance abuse. Frank is a youth advocate who mentors and coaches young leaders to educate their peers about the incidence of violence in Detroit and ways to prevent it. Under his leadership, teen boys and girls become catalysts for change by improving attitudes about violence and drugs. The Detroit native, who attended Cass Technical High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Wayne State University, joined NSO in 1994. He was drawn to the human services agency’s history of community activism and neighborhood empowerment programs. Frank lives on the city’s east side with his wife. The couple’s daughter is away at college.
