Fredric S. Maxik, has served as Chief Scientific Officer of Lighting Science Group Corporation since June 2004 and has served as a director of Lighting Science Group since August 2004. In 2002, Maxik formed an environmental products company, which developed the intellectual property that eventually became the principal asset of Lighting Science, Inc. that was acquired by in June 2004. Maxik graduated Bard College with a BA in Physics and Philosophy and received an honorary PhD in Physics from the University of Hong Kong in 1993.
