Ginny Lewis serves as the Associate Director and General Council of the Texas Association of Regional Councils (TARC) in Austin, Texas. The TARC team oversees the Texas Citizen Corps program, a regional program based on volunteers of any skill level and backgrounds coming together to provide support of various kinds to their communities, particularly in times of disaster. In 2012 Texas’ Citizen Corps teams reported 183,700 volunteer hours. TARC also assists the regional councils to strengthen their capabilities to serve their local government members. Texas’ regional councils deal with planning needs, service delivery, and issues that cross the boundaries of individual local governments and require regional cooperation. Ms. Lewis holds a number of leadership positions on volunteer organizations throughout the Austin community that positively impact families, children, literacy efforts and seniors.
