Community Preparedness Program Coordinator, City of Austin, TX
As Community Preparedness Program Coordinator for the City of Austin, Linda Haynie served in many capacities, including Regional Citizen Corps Coordinator for a 10-county planning region and CERT Program Manager for the Austin, Texas Community Emergency Response Team. Her community preparedness work at the City of Austin included a program to assemble and distribute preparedness kits to 1,200 homebound seniors and disabled citizens in Austin and the establishment of new CERT partnerships focused on assuring a more prepared community and more engaged CERT members. Linda retired in August after working for 32 years in state and local government. However, she continues to be engaged in Citizen Corps and Austin CERT initiatives as a CERT volunteer, facilitating new Teen CERT programs starting up in the Austin area.
