Dr. Susan Amat is the co-founder and Executive Director of The Launch Pad. Based in the University of Miami’s Toppel Career Center, The Launch Pad recruits entrepreneurs across the campus, offering them access to resources and a network to support applied experiential educational opportunities. Launch Pad entrepreneurs start real businesses, contributing to local economic development efforts and the community as a whole. In its first three years, over 2000 students and young alumni have become Launch Pad members and over 900 concepts have received mentoring, totaling over 30,000 hours of mentoring and guidance. This model is being replicated nationally through the Blackstone Charitable Foundation. Dr. Amat is a serial entrepreneur who started her first business at the age of 15. She started and ran a successful record label, developed a television show, the first CD-Rom magazine, and is currently working on a project for elementary school educators. She is the Chair of Startup Florida as part of the Startup America Partnership.
