Suzanne C. Dubus joined the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center in 1995 and has served as its chief executive since 1998. She is credited with developing and administering domestic violence prevention programs that are effective, innovative, and community-based. A domestic violence survivor, Dubus rose above abuse in her own life to help at-risk individuals and families, as well as influence social change in her community. Recognized as an expert in the field, she is a member of the Massachusetts Governor’s Council on Sexual and Domestic Violence and the Jane Doe Inc. board of directors and is the recipient of several awards. The Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center strives to create a culture in which domestic violence and abusive behavior are not tolerated and provides services that help survivors navigate the process of leaving abusive relationships and move from helplessness to hopefulness. The murder of one of its clients led to the identification of gaps in the systems and helped transform one community’s response to high risk offenders and victim safety.
