Dr. Jack Friedlander serves as Superintendent/President of Santa Barbara City College, which was recently selected as one of ten finalists for the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.  Dr. Friedlander is responsible for providing strong educational leadership and strategic vision for both the college’s credit and non-credit divisions including the main campus, two Continuing Education centers, and more than 90 satellite locations.  SBCC currently enrolls nearly 20,000 credit students each semester along with 22,000 Continuing Education students annually. Dr. Friedlander assumed the role of president in August 2011 and has been associated with SBCC for nearly 26 years in various other administrative roles.  Dr. Friedlander played a leadership role in developing SBCC’s Partnership for Success program that received the Chancellor’s Office for California Community Colleges’ Outstanding Program of the Year award in 2007.  He also was the lead author for the $3 million federal Title V grant that SBCC received in 2010 to increase and accelerate the success, progression, degree completion and transfer preparation of students.
