Matthew Evans, 18 years old

Matthew had the vision to create a nonprofit called Discover Green, which is based in Pflugerville, Texas, and raises awareness around energy and water conservation, as well as constructs sustainable landscape models throughout the community. Working alongside the city arborist, Discover Green has planted 800 residential trees throughout Pflugerville – which has given Matthew a platform to present to local audiences on the merits of energy and water conservation, such as the promotion of local “Drop by Drop” water conservation campaign efforts. Moreover, Matthew has participated in an energy audit of a Parks and Recreation facility, and has led efforts to have Discover Green increase youth advocacy on sustainable living.
