Darlene Shue
Texas delegate Darlene Shue has made a significant difference in the fight for better schools in Fort Worth, having been involved in the PTA for 15 years. Not only does she run and direct ‘Darlene’s Montessori Children’s House’, but she also finds time to attend her son’s school activities, organize events on behalf of local schools and encourages others to help or support education however they can.
Just in this school year alone, Shue has organized 11 new PTAs across Fort Worth. As a PTA representative, she teaches ways to encourage parents to be involved, trains them on a one-on-one basis, and even organized a training for over 200 participants from FWISD and the North Texas area. For this event, she coordinated a Resource Fair with over 80 exhibitors who distributed information on medical, physical education, environmental awareness, esteem building, bullying prevention, drug prevention and fundraising programs.
Last spring, Shue coordinated an award program at The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth to honor the students who participated in the “Arts In Education,” “Reflections” and “Our Environment Awareness” programs. Each student was recognized on the stage, and their guests toured the museum free of charge.
Shue teaches her Montessori preschoolers kindness, self discipline and manners. She emphasizes social skills and develops life-long learners.
