Strengthening the Role of Community Organizations in the Economic Recovery

People trust them. Communities rely on them. And we will help them."
President Obama is intent on engaging community groups as an integral part of our economic recovery and poverty reduction. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act created new opportunities for community groups to participate in the recovery. The White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships works within government to ensure a role for community groups in grant opportunities created by the Recovery Act. In addition to making sure that community groups are aware of opportunities to apply for funding, this Office identifies ways to promote fiscal and civic partnerships with all sectors and all levels of government to make poverty a burden fewer have to bear when recovery is complete.
