December 2011: Homes are beginning to reappear in Joplin’s residential neighborhoods devastated by the tornado through the efforts of individuals, governmental entities, private-sector partners and broad effort by faith-based and voluntary organizations. This house was part of Habitat for Humanity’s “Ten for Joplin” campaign in the fall of 2011 to build 10 homes for displaced families. Since then, more Habitat projects are underway, including a collaborative effort with Missouri Governor Jay Nixon to build 35 homes and another project with Major League Baseball to build another handful of homes.
