Tribute to the First Ladies
First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy began the tradition of selecting an annual Christmas theme in 1961. Since then, every First Lady has celebrated this tradition in her own special way, and this year, the four Christmas trees in the Grand Foyer are trimmed with ornaments reminiscent of past Christmas themes.
To celebrate and pay tribute to past White House holidays and honor the lasting legacies of the former First Ladies, four unique and custom-tailored trees stand in the Grand Foyer.
