Final question at the Town Hall with Young African Leaders

President Obama responds to Abdi Najma Ahmed, a delegate representing Somalia at the President’s Young African Leaders Forum. The President emphasized that the United States supports the Somali people and wants to be a partner in helping to build a better future for young Somalis. He recognized that lasting and stable governance structures in Somalia must be built and supported within the country, and described how violent extremists’ use of terrorist attacks inside and outside of Somalia threaten the region the world. The President pointed out the stark contrast between the unifying, positive image of Africa put forth by the recent World Cup and the violent, destructive terrorist attacks that the Somalia-based terrorist organization al-Shabaab recently conducted in Kampala, Uganda.
