HealthCare.gov Tour Builds Healthier Congregations and Communities through the Affordable Care Act

As provisions of the Affordable Care Act are rolled out across the country, many people are still unsure how the Affordable Care Act helps them access the care that they need.  To help connect more communities to the opportunities the Affordable Care Act provides, we hosted a virtual tour of HealthCare.gov with the site’s Managing Editor, Craig Stoltz.

HealthCare.gov makes it easier for community members to learn about the benefits they are eligible for through the Affordable Care Act, and to compare insurance plans and find the option that’s best for them. 

Craig led listeners through step-by-step instructions of how to use the key components of the website.  By answering just a few basic questions, community members can find public and private health insurance options tailored specifically for their needs.  Under the “Understand the Law” tab, listeners were guided through the implementation timeline.  From allowing young adults under 26 to stay on their parent’s health insurance to tax credits for small businesses that provide insurance to employees, users are able to see what benefits they are eligible for now and what they can benefit from later.

Faith-based and community leaders play an important role in connecting vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations to quality, affordable health care.  We encourage you to share this information with your congregation and community to connect them to the care they need.
