60 New Companies Commit to Hiring Military Spouses

Yesterday, I had the honor of attending the Fall 2013 Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP)  Induction Ceremony.  At the event, 60 corporations, small businesses and other organizations were officially inducted as MSEP partners.  Induction to MSEP means that these corporate partners are joining a network of over 200 organizations committed to helping military spouses find and maintain employment, increasing access to education and training, and providing career exploration opportunities.

As a military spouse, I too have struggled with career continuity.  Many moves, unexpected orders, and short assignments can often impede a spouse’s ability to build their ideal career.  Joining Forces and spouses like me would like to thank MSEP and the MSEP Partners for expanding employment and career development opportunities for the military spouse community.

Military spouses are well educated and highly qualified, yet many are unable to secure a rewarding career. In many cases, military spouses move from one community to another when their spouses are assigned to new duty stations. These transfers can make it very difficult for spouses to continue with their careers or to find similar jobs in new locations. The Military Spouse Employment Partnership is helping to change that.

As the popular saying goes, ‘What’s good for Main Street is good for Wall Street.’  Our military spouses and veterans are good for business.  They are team focused and tech savvy.  Since the launch of the MSEP program in June 2011, MSEP partners have hired more than 55,000 military spouses and are making a tangible impact on military families across the globe.
