White House Council on Environmental Quality Statement in Recognition of National Weatherization Day
WASHINGTON, DC -- Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality issued the following statement today in recognition of National Weatherization Day.
“National Weatherization Day is an opportunity for Americans to learn more about what we can all do to conserve energy, make our homes more efficient, and save money. All over the country, cities and towns are holding events and information sessions to increase awareness on the importance of weatherization.
“The Obama Administration is dedicated to a comprehensive energy plan that includes robust efficiency measures. Under Secretary Chu’s leadership, the Department of Energy has made energy efficiency a priority and I commend him and his team for their work.
“At CEQ, we have worked closely with Federal Agencies and Departments as well as Vice President Biden and the Middle Class Task Force to develop and release the ‘Recovery Through Retrofit’ report. It puts forth recommendations to spur a home energy efficiency industry that will make it easier and more cost effective for middle class families to retrofit their homes. Projects like these have increased our momentum on the road to a green recovery and more sustainable future.
The Recovery Through Retrofit report is available online at obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/CEQ.
