President Obama Nominates Charles Oberly to Serve as U.S. Attorney

WASHINGTON- Today, President Obama nominated Charles M. Oberly, III  to serve as U.S. Attorney. 

“For his diligence and relentless pursuit of justice, I have named Charles Oberly to serve as a U.S. Attorney,” President Obama said. “I am confident he will serve the people of Delaware with distinction.”

Charles Oberly has been Of Counsel to Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP since 2009.  From 2008 to 2009, Mr. Oberly was partner at WolfBlock, LLP.  Prior to that, he was a founding partner of Oberly & Jennings from 1995 to 2008.  From 1975 to 1995, Mr. Oberly worked for the Delaware Department of Justice, serving as Attorney General from 1983 to 1995, Head of the Appellate Division from 1979 to 1983, State Prosecutor from 1976 to 1979, and Deputy Attorney General from 1975 to 1976.  Prior to that, he was an associate at Morris James Hitchens & Williams from 1972 to 1975.  Following law school, Mr. Oberly worked as a law clerk for the Honorable James L. Latchum of the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.  Mr. Oberly graduated from Wesley Junior College in 1966.  He received his bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1968, and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1971.
