President Obama Amends the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Disaster Declaration

The President today made additional disaster assistance available to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands by authorizing an increase in the level of federal funding for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands as a result of Typhoon Soudelor during the period of August 1-3, 2015.

Under the President’s major disaster declaration issued for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands on August 5, 2015, federal funding was made available for Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, and Other Needs Assistance under the Individuals and Households Program at 75 percent federal funding of total eligible costs.          

Under the President's order today, the federal share for Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, and the Other Needs Assistance portion of the Individuals and Households Program has been increased to 90 percent of the total eligible costs.
