The White House * 3:00 PM ET - First Lady Michelle Obama will host an event to mark Nowruz at the White House. Nowruz is a New Year celebration for over 300 million people from diverse ethnic and religious communities across the Middle East, Central and Southwest Asia, and Eastern Europe. Celebrated by various communities in the United States, this holiday marks the beginning of spring, the renewal of nature, and the welcoming of a positive and healthy new year. The event will feature Persian cuisine and the traditional Nowruz table, known as the “Haft Seen,” which includes seven items symbolizing such concepts as renewal, joy, love, beauty, health and patience.
