President Obama Announces Another Key Administration Post

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, President Barack Obama announced his intent to nominate the following individual to a key Administration post:

President Obama announced his intent to nominate the following individual to a key Administration post: 

Michael A. Khouri, Nominee for Commissioner, Federal Maritime Commission

Michael A. Khouri is a Commissioner on the Federal Maritime Commission, a position he has held since 2010.  Mr. Khouri has 45 years of experience in the maritime industry.  He worked at the law firm of Pedley & Gordinier and was the President and Chief Operating Officer of MERS/Economy Boat.  Prior to his tenure at MERS, Mr. Khouri held a number of executive positions over 23 years at American Commercial Lines, including General Counsel, Senior Vice President for Corporate and Legal Affairs, and Senior Vice President for Transportation Services.  He began his marine career in 1971 as a deck crewman and engineer on Crounse Corporation vessels. He was promoted in 1974 to the pilot house to serve as Pilot and Captain.  Mr. Khouri has served on the Board of Directors of the American Waterways Operators Association and the Waterways Council, Inc.  Mr. Khouri received a B.A. from Tulane University and a J.D. from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville.
