President Obama Nominates Noel March and George White To Be U.S. Marshals

WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, President Obama nominated Noel March and George White to be U.S. Marshals  for the District of Maine and the Southern District of Mississippi, respectively.

“Noel March and George White both have long and stellar track records in public safety,” said President Obama.  “I’m honored to nominate them to serve as United States Marshals, and I know they will continue to show unwavering courage and commitment in protecting their fellow citizens.”

Noel B. March: Nominee for the District of Maine
Noel March has served as the Chief of Police and Director of the University of Maine, Department of Public Safety and Transportation since 2002.  From 1998 to 2002, he was Director of the Maine Regional Community Policing Institute.  March was Assistant Vice President of the MBNA America Bank/MBNA New England from 1993 to 1998.  He also served as Chief Deputy Sheriff of Cumberland County, Maine, from 1991 to 1993.  March graduated cum laude with a B.S. from the University of New England in 1998.

George White: Nominee for the Southern District of Mississippi
George White is the Director of the Commercial Driver’s License Division and the Motor Carrier Safety Division for the State of Mississippi.  He has been with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety since 1980, serving in several roles including as Director of the Driver Records Division, as an Examiner with the Driver’s License Bureau, and as a Trooper with the Department’s Enforcement Division.  He was Mississippi’s Trooper of the Year in 1988.  In addition to extensive professional training, White received a B.S. from Alcorn State University in 2009.
