The Houghs own a small business in north Orange County. Their daughter Natalie became chronically ill in high school with a condition that requires costly medicine and procedures. The Houghs pay for a family policy, but it only covers some major medical procedures. With Natalie’s pre-existing condition, they were concerned that she might never be able to get good insurance coverage once she went off their medical policy. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, she can go to college and live as normal a life as her illness allows. Come graduation, she will have access to he coverage and care she needs on her own plan.
