How are You Defying the Bounds of Innovation to Accelerate Progress in Cancer Research and Care?

The White House Cancer Moonshot Task Force’s mission is to double the rate of progress in cancer research and treatment, striving to accelerate what could be achieved in ten years in just five. The goals of the Cancer Moonshot cannot be achieved by one person, one organization, one discipline, or even one collective approach. Rather, solving the complexities of cancer requires the formation of new alliances to defy the bounds of innovation and accelerate the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and -- ultimately -- the curing of cancer. If you plan to launch a pioneering collaboration aimed at breaking down a barrier that is impeding progress in cancer research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, or care, we’d like to hear about it. In the coming months, we will be highlighting new, specific, and measurable steps that organizations and communities across the country are taking. Whether you represent industry, government, a health system, non-profit, philanthropy, research institute, professional society, patients, or others, you can make a commitment to help right here.

Tell us about your activities to support and advance the Cancer Moonshot. These activities could include, in particular, new collaborations to advance the following areas of work:

  • Catalyzing breakthrough advances in how we understand and treat cancer, including new or expanded investments and novel funding and financing mechanisms to advance cancer research;
  • Strengthening the drug development process and/or enhancing pre-competitive collaborations to accelerate discovery of new treatments and therapies, including new partnerships to speed movement of treatments or combination therapies to make a difference for patients;
  • Developing robust and secure information technology infrastructure for sharing research results and clinical health information; including the formation of new collaborations among centers, providers, or others to share privacy-protected data to enable researchers to find new patterns in effective prevention, diagnosis, and treatment;
  • Formulating novel strategies for engaging the public in enhancing awareness and prevention;
  • Enhancing delivery of state-of-the-art cancer care – tailored to the individual patient – to local communities and underserved populations;
  • The development of grand challenges, competitions, and prizes to foster innovation in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and more.

We look forward to hearing about your plans to find collaborative solutions for accelerating progress and overcoming barriers in the fight against cancer. Share your commitment below.

If applicable, your announcement may be incorporated into White House materials in the coming months.
