The President’s Call to Action to Employers to Get More Americans into the Tech Jobs of the Future

A year ago on March 9th, 2015, President Obama launched the TechHire initiative - a bold, multi-sector initiative and call to action to empower Americans with the skills they need for the tech jobs of today. Through the collaboration of employers, training providers, and workforce and economic development organizations, TechHire communities have been using data and innovative hiring practices to expand non-traditional hiring, and building accelerated training programs that prepare individuals in months instead of years.

As part of the initiative, the President issued a broad call to action to get more Americans from all backgrounds on rapid pathways to well-paying tech jobs of the future. Only a year later, 50 communities working with more than 600 employers are taking action and the President is challenging more to follow in their lead. Learn more.

Over the coming months and year, the Administration is planning to highlight both the progress made to date, and new commitments to TechHire from employers across the country.

Companies who have successfully attracted talent from nontraditional talent pools have justified their approach in four primary ways: (1) Reduced Difficulty in Filling Roles; (2) Improved Retention; (3) Reduced Cost; (4) Improved Workforce Diversity.

We would welcome the opportunity to work with you to highlight new, specific, and measurable steps that your company is ready to take to partner with a TechHire community to recruit and interview qualified candidates from non-traditional, fast-track tech training programs. If applicable, your announcement may be incorporated into White House materials in the coming months and your organization and relevant partners may be invited to participate in upcoming White House events on this topic.

Commit to become a TechHire Employer partner today! As a first step, we request you fill out the information below, which requires coming together with partners across your region to develop an action plan for training and placing more people from your community into tech jobs.
