What does $40 mean to you?
Thanks in no small part to their efforts to make their voices heard, Americans scored a major victory when Congress passed a two-month tax cut extension in December that prevented the typical family earning $50,000 a year from losing about $40 each paycheck.
Then, as that extension neared its expiration date in February, people spoke out once again—and it made all the difference. Lawmakers extended the payroll tax cut through the rest of 2012, in addition to extending unemployment benefits that provide lifelines to millions of Americans looking for work.
The thing is, $40 is real money for working families, as people all over the country told us. So continue speaking out and tell us what $40 means to you.
