Dr. Jana Davis

Dr. Jana Davis is the Associate Executive Director and Chief Scientist of the Chesapeake Bay Trust. She oversees the Trust’s portfolio of grant programs focusing on watershed restoration, education, outreach, and innovation, one of which is the Trust’s new partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Maryland Department of Natural Resources to fund “Green Street” and other urban green infrastructure work. She led the Trust’s on-the-ground restoration work funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, including the Town of Edmonston Green Street project, and other similar programs. Prior to coming to the Trust, Jana served as an American Association for the Advancement of Science Congressional Science Fellow in the United States Senate, sponsored by the American Geophysical Union. There, she handled ocean, coastal, and other environmental issues for Senator Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey and wrote legislation on such topics as environmental literacy and habitat protection. Jana holds a B.S. in biology from Yale University and a Ph.D. in oceanography from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and continues to work at the intersection of science and policy. Her research includes work on habitat restoration, marine ecology, fisheries and aquaculture.
