Deputy Director of Let’s Move! in the Office of the First Lady

Elyse Cohen is the Deputy Director of Let’s Move!, the First Lady’s initiative to ensure that children grow up healthy and able to pursue their dreams. Prior to joining the First Lady’s team, Elyse spent nearly a decade developing and managing national health communication and marketing campaigns that inspire and promote behavior change. She worked at FHI360 (formerly AED) and ICF International in their Strategic Health Marketing divisions, leading efforts on a range of public health issues, with a strong focus on childhood obesity, nutrition, physical activity, and concussion prevention. Elyse has extensive experience in developing, implementing, and promoting social marketing campaigns through formative research, materials and message development, partnership outreach, communications planning, and digital and traditional media. Elyse’s expertise lies in translating scientific research into easy-to-use communication materials and programs and finding creative ways to ensure information is effectively distributed to key audiences.

Elyse has a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Nutrition from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in Public Health, Communication and Marketing, from the George Washington University.
