Champions of Change
As President of the Peach Growers Tract Association, Bruce Rasmussen led the development of a first-of-its-kind solar water pumping system. This system now provides water to the United States Forest Service in Stanislaus National Forest. Previously, the Forest Service relied on propane generators and often had to truck water in using diesel fuel. The new solar-powered system is significantly more cost-effective and protects the environment in a national forest. If implemented on a broader scale, the Stanislaus model would great thousands of jobs and save millions in tax dollars, all while preserving our national parks and forests. Bruce Rasmussen was also the 2010 Teacher of the Year at Laurel Creek Elementary School in Fairfield, CA.
