Jerry McDermott is currently a captain flying the B737 from Newark, New Jersey. He was hired by Continental Airlines in June 1987 and leads his colleagues in providing assistance to all ALPA members in maintaining their medical certificates, recovering from stressful incidents and accidents, proactively addressing substance abuse issues before they become safety problems, and promoting a high standard of professionalism inside and outside of the cockpit.
