  • Next Open Meeting of the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board

    The President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board (PERAB) will hold its next public meeting on October 4, 2010 in the White House State Dining Room beginning at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The meeting will be open to the public via live audio stream at http://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/live.

    The purpose of this meeting is to continue discussion of the issues impacting the strength and competitiveness of the Nation’s economy including workforce development. The discussion will include an update on the research and preparatory work conducted in the PERAB subcommittees.  

    The public is invited to submit written statements to the Advisory Committee through the Public Comment tool on the PERAB website.

    In general, all statements will be posted on the White House website (http://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov) without change, including any business or personal information provided such as names, addresses, e-mail addresses, or telephone numbers.  The Department of the Treasury will also make such statements available for public inspection and copying in the Department’s Library, Room 1428, Main Department Building, 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20220, on official business days between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  You can make an appointment to inspect statements by telephoning (202) 622-0990.  All statements received, including attachments and other supporting materials, are part of the public record and subject to public disclosure.  You should submit only information that you wish to make available publicly.

  • On the PERAB Tax Task Force Report

    Today, the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board (PERAB) approved its report on tax reform and sent it to the President.

    The PERAB report fulfills the specific mandate they were given: to discuss the pros and cons of a spectrum of reform ideas relating to tax simplification, improving compliance with existing tax laws, and reforming the corporate tax system.  They were also instructed not to consider policies that would raise taxes on families making less than $250,000.

    The President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board (PERAB) will hold its next public meeting on August 27, 2010 via conference call beginning at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  The meeting will be open to the public via live audio stream at http://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/live.

    The purpose of this meeting is to continue discussion of the issues impacting the strength and competitiveness of the Nation's economy. The discussion will include an update on the research and preparatory work conducted in the PERAB subcommittees. The tax reform subcommittee of the PERAB will present a report during the meeting, which discusses the pros and cons of a spectrum of reform ideas relating to tax simplification, enforcement of existing tax laws and reform of the corporate tax system, without considering policies that would raise taxes on families making less than $250,000. The PERAB will vote on presenting the report from the tax reform subcommittee as formal advice to the President.

    The President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board will hold its next public meeting on April 16, 2010, in the White House Roosevelt Room beginning at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time.  The meeting will be open to the public via live webcast at http://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/live. 

    The purpose of this meeting is to continue discussion of the issues impacting the strength and competitiveness of the Nation’s economy.  The discussion will include an update on the research and preparatory work conducted in the PERAB subcommittees and recommendations to the President.  The PERAB will provide information and ideas obtained from across the country to promote exports, the growth of the American economy, establish a stable and sound financial and banking system, create jobs, and improve the long-term prosperity of the American people.

    Also, the PERAB has launched a new website.  Our hope is to keep visitors informed on the PERAB's meetings and analysis as they advise the President.  One of the major duties of the PERAB is to ensure the President has independent, nonpartisan information, analysis, and advice.  The PERAB will solicit information and ideas from all sectors to promote the growth of the economy, establish a stable and sound financial and banking system, and create jobs.  The site gives some insight into areas the PERAB is focusing on and provides opportunities to give PERAB feedback and input on economic recovery ideas.  You will also be able to find up-to-date news on PERAB meetings and announcements.
