Background on the President's Visit to the Fairfax County Parkway Extension Project Today

President Obama and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will visit the Fairfax County Parkway Extension project, the largest Recovery Act project in Virginia. Gregory Andricos, Project Manager, and construction workers who are helping to build the roads, interchanges and bridges will accompany them. After the visit, the President will deliver remarks on the economic benefits of the Recovery Act.

Background on Fairfax County Parkway Project:

The Fairfax County Parkway is a four-phased project, of which phases 1, 2 and 4 have already been awarded and work is underway.

8,000 road and bridge projects like this one have been approved around the country, putting tens of thousands of people like these workers back to work in good paying jobs. 73 percent of all highway recovery dollars have been obligated.
